VAGINAL DISCHARGE DURING THIRD TRIMESTER

IS IT NORMAL ?

Increased vaginal discharge is seen during the third trimester due to the pressure of the growing baby on the lower part of the uterus and the cervix resulting in increased blood flow congestion.

Sometimes the discharge may be too heavy to be confused with urine .

At times, close to your delivery date, you might see a thick, clear, or slightly blood-stained discharge.

This is called mucus plug, which serves as a protective barrier from bacteria entering into your uterus, and it’s a sign that your cervix has begun dilating in preparation for labor.
