BREAST ENLARGEMENT AND DISCHARGE FROM THE NIPPLES

Your breasts will become enlarged and may begin discharging a yellowish substance from the nipples when you are close to your due date.

This is called “colostrum” or “early breast milk” or “liquid gold” since it’s full of antibodies, protein, and carbohydrates.

This will be thick and sticky.

Colostrum will nourish the baby during the first few days of life.

Leakage can be uncomfortable during pregnancy. Try inserting nursing pads into your bra to absorb milk and prevent stains or wet spots from seeping through to your clothing.

Breast enlargement can cause back pain, so it’s important to wear a supportive bra.
